One Crazy Night

So some of my friends and I went to Mister Days in Arlington last night. First off let me ask the question of why does it seem that a lot of women aren't able to follow directions? Is it because women hate being told what to do and will not take the right on Main Street when they are supposed to? In all fairness to my woman friend who came with us, it could very well be because she had never driven down to Arlington and the streets of Arlington can be somewhat confusing. But I digress. If you have never been to Mister Days let me set up the bar for you. As you walk in there is a bar immediately to your right. On your left is a raised floor with tables and chairs that is divided from the "dance floor" by a barrier of 3 feet tall wood. As you make your forward you run into winding stairs that lead you to the second floor that has a whole other bar which has an open view for looking down at the dance floor. The second floor is the perfect spot to look down on the main floor and figure out who do you want to talk to. Surrounding the dance floor is another bar and above the dance floor's bar is a bunch of TVs. Mister Days seemed to me to be a better place to watch sporting games than it was to dance, but the dancing there wasn't too bad as well. Of course as is the norm when going to Arlington bars and clubs, there were more women than men- most of the women being good looking. Although there was this one has been of a cougar that kept on being rude to my friends and I. Why I don't know. But we first started talking with her when I wanted to go talk to a guy for my woman friend to make an introduction. Well she is really shy and was worried about being embarrassed, so I asked this has been cougar, who was standing right next to me, what she thought about how I was going to approach this guy and make an introduction. She said "What! No! What you need to do say to this guy 'Excuse me, but you look familiar. Did you go to Mason?'" To which I replied "Are you kidding me? That is the dumbest line I have ever heard. That sounds like something Elmo would use to pick up a fat Sesame Street character." Needless to say I ended up approaching the guy and it was a really awkward situation. First off I'm not gay, but he was. Second he thought that I was the one who was interested and not my woman friend. Thirdly how do you tell a gay guy "Wow I'm not gay" without sounding like a homophob? So in the end we didn't find my woman friend a guy, which is probably best, because it is a terrible idea to look for someone a week after breaking off a three year relationship with someone. But I was drunk, it was a fun time, and I look forward to next weekend.

After the first debate

After driving back from watching the first Presidential debate (I don't have cable in my house) I was going over in my head some of the finer points brought up by both of the candidates. First and foremost I think that it has to be said that Senator Obama won this debate by a large margin. While his victory over Senator McCain is not the knock out blow that some Democrats would have wished for, it is important to note that this debate on foreign policy, national security, and international relations, etc. was supposed to be Senator McCain's strong suit.

Several points were made and while I have to agree with McCain that experience is important, I also have to agree with Obama that correctly judging a situation is just as important, if not more so. President Kennedy correctly judged the Cuban Missle Crisis, even though he lacked the experience that Nixon may have brought to the situation, and brought America, Russia, and the rest of the world away from the brink of anhilation.

One last note before I end this post. I am surprised that after every time Senator McCain brought up his support for the veterans and his active role in taking care of veterans, that Senator Obama did not remind Americans and ask McCain for his reasons why he did not support Senator Webb's GI Bill. This bill was supported by every veterans organization, the majority of the Senate and the House, and by almost every veteran, thus if McCain does support veterans and is willing to take an active role in taking care of America's veterans why did he oppose this GI Bill? More importantly while I disagree with Senator McCain's lack of support for the 21st Century GI Bill, it is unfathomable to think that the maverick, the sheriff, the driver of the straight talk express did not even show up to vote against Senator Webb's GI Bill. How can you be a leader if you are not willing to stand up for what you believe? Unless McCain never really believed the reasons why he was against Senator Webb's GI Bill and the only reason why McCain was unwilling to support this bill was because it was proposed by a Democrat instead of a Republican. But that means McCain would have been playing politics with the lives and benefits of american veterans and certainly the maverick is above such petty Washington politics.

Why couldn't my english teachers look like her?

Why is it that all English teachers and professors, who are women, fit the typical profile? You know what I mean: Long frizzy hair, might have been attractive before they started teaching English. Well I know that if my English teachers had looked like HOTFORWORDS (check out her youtube videos on the side) I would have a much larger vocabulary.

While Sitting in Class

While sitting in class I have finally been able to create a blog on this site. Thank God that I brought my Macbook. For some odd reason the IT Mecca which George Mason University proclaims itself to be is falling short, since none of my classmates can use the computers in the lab to create a blog. Honestly I don't really understand why people love blogs. Half the time blogs are complete bullshit and the other times, the ramblings on the blogs are so inane that they would be better off in the trash bin of history along with the rest of history's drivel.

So why have I started a blog? The answer to that is because of English 302.
